CSP will be doing chairlift evacuation checks and self evacuation certification. If you have previously done your chairlift evacuation training and need to do your annual re-certification or you have done the inside training already this year but not made it to the chairlift yet, please join us. No time to train brand new people on this evening. Please sign up in the calendar.
If you wish to be able to do self evacuation from the chair we will be offering a certification with equinox adventures. This certification is NOT mandatory. Previous experience, confidence and proficiency with knots and ropes required. Self belay/rappel skills required. We will check you off on the ice tower and then the chairlift. Come prepared to demonstrate your proficiency immediately.
Here is the list of gear you will need if you wish to do self evac:
- 45 metres of 7 mm climbing rope
- 2 x pear shaped/HMS double self locking carabiners
- 40 cm sewn sling
- 1 metre 5 or 6 mm prusik cord
- stuff sack
- a belay device able to accept a twinned 7 mm. Please note that you need to check the age and specs of your device. For example, the verso was re-designed in 2019 to accommodate a smaller diametre rope so an old verso will not be acceptable. The verso is what we will be purchasing for all new kits for Sima staff.
